One of the most important things to have for a new baby is a safe place for the baby to be when they cannot be held. There are so many different ways to do this. Some parents utilize a blanket on the floor, others use a pack and play or crib, the list goes on.
When I had my daughter in 2018, I purchased a Snuggle Me Organic Infant Lounger. I was a first time mom, so while I had seen these online and heard how they would be useful, I really was unsure of what to expect from the product and in what ways it would be used.
The loungers retail for $109.00 and you can find them on the Snuggle Me Organic website here. The covers seem to be a non-essential piece, but I can’t imagine having used it without the cover. Having a cover on the lounger is what will allow me to reuse it with my second baby when she arrives in a few months. With a new cover, the lounger will be in like new. The covers retail for $52.00 and can be found here. The loungers come to a total of $161.00. This is pricey, so I do think this is an “extra” item and not a necessity, but it is definitely convenient and useful.
The lounger arrived in a zipped case (which I now realize I should have kept to store the lounger in when my daughter outgrew it for safe keeping – so I’m passing that piece of knowledge onto you). The lounger is a structured pillowy material on the outsides with a concave area for the baby. Within hours of first being home after delivery we were using our lounger, as you can see in the photos below.
You can also see in these photos that while the lounger does sort of “wrap” around the baby, there is still plenty of room around the baby’s face. It does not pull close enough that I was ever worried about the safety of my baby while in the lounger.
Overall, my review of the lounger is that it is one of the best and most used items I had during those first few months of my daughter’s life. Postpartum is a very difficult time, and I felt that having the lounger made things a little simpler. I was able to put the lounger on my bed or on the floor, put the baby in the lounger, and then move around the room and do simple tasks without worrying that my baby was going to roll off the bed or move herself to a dangerous position.
An important note about the Snuggle Me Organic Infant Lounger: the company states that at no point in the lounger safe for unsupervised sleep. This is a super important piece of information. The lounger should only be used while the infant is actively being monitored to ensure safety of the product.
