I have been looking for a new reusable water bottle for a while now. I have used the same 48 oz. water bottle for a very long time, and I felt like it was time for something new. If I’m being honest, I absolutely loved my old water bottle. However, reusable water bottles do have a lifespan and mine was on it’s last leg.
I decided that I wanted to avoid a plastic water bottle this time, which drastically shrunk my options. I have consistently seen so much chatter about the Stanley reusable cups and as of late, the Simple Modern dupe as well.
Without further ado, let’s get into the full comparison between the Stanley and the Simple Modern.
Price
I purchased both the Stanley and the Simple Modern on Amazon. The Stanley is $45.00 and the Simple Modern is $29.99. With a $15.00 difference in price, the Stanley is more expensive than the Simple Modern dupe.
Packaging
Because I ordered both of these reusable cups on Amazon and received them both the next day with Prime shipping, they arrived together in one box.
Interestingly enough, the Stanley was packaged only wrapped in bubble wrap. The Simple Modern arrived in a nicely packaged box.
For packaging, the Simple Modern wins for me. I think for $45.00, I expected more than just bubble wrap from the Stanley cup.
Size & Weight
Both the Stanley and the Simple Modern are about the same size in height. Both cups come with straws, and the Simple Modern actually comes with two.
For weight, the difference is negligible. When I put them on the food scale, there was a slight difference in weight with the Stanley coming in a bit heavier, but the difference is so small that when I held both I could not decipher which would be heavier.
Hot & Cold
The Stanley Cup advertises that it will keep cold for 11 hours, iced for two days, and hot for 7 hours.
The Simple Modern cup states it will keep items cold for 24 hours. As far as I could tell there was no mention of how long liquids would stay hot.
In this department, they are so similar I really don’t think the choice should be made between these cups on this factor. They are both sturdy cups and keep liquids extremely cold for a long span of time.
Color Options
Both of these have a plethora of colorway options. You can find some color options on Amazon, with more options on both brand websites here for the Stanley and here for the Simple Modern.
Ease of Use
Both the Stanley and the Simple Modern have a large and sturdy handle which helps to hold the cups securely. These reusable cups are so large that a handle is a necessity. Both cups are easy to hold, easy to fill, and easy to drink from.
Spills
I took the Stanley cup with me on my errands yesterday and I did notice that if it fell over at all, it did spill slightly from the lid.
The Simple Modern seemed to leak slightly less than the Stanley. There was still leakage, but it was not as apparent.
Overall
The Stanley is a great cup. It is heavy-duty, beautiful, and very convenient. The brand is widely known and many, many people swear by their Stanley’s! If you choose a Stanley, I do believe you will be happy with it, because any negatives to the cup are so small they truly do not make much of a difference.
The Simple Modern has come out as a great dupe, but it does feel a bit less comprehensive to me. For lack of a better word, it feels a bit more simple. Very fitting for the brand and its’ name! But, as a reminder, this cup is $15.00 less than the Stanley.
After thoroughly comparing the 40 oz. Stanley Quencher H2.0 Flowstate Tumbler and the 40 oz. Simple Modern Tumbler, I know what reusable cup I choose. If you are looking to have your own Stanley and just aren’t sure if you should purchase it, I would. It is a great cup and you won’t be dissapointed. But, if you’re deciding between the Stanley and the Simple Modern, I personally would choose the Simple Modern. The differences between the two are so small that they really do not change the experience of using the cup. For $15.00 cheaper, the Simple Modern is a better deal.
